Down at the bottom of Chimney Park is the old center of Bilbao – the buildings are older and more ornate overall, the streets narrower (and the angles more variable), and the tourists more abundant.
The sidewalk tiles are famous. Other cities have fancy tiles too, but Bilbao’s had a pleasing pattern and texture.
While walking by the river we saw a protest, an orchestra, and a stream of young drivers.
And we spent a lot of time simply having a lazy Saturday (and apparently photographic people wearing red shirts).
