I had one day to spend with my friend and his wife in Chicago and we walked all around the city, went to the Adler Planetarium, and then they saw me off at the airport. It felt great having someone say goodbye at security.
On a whim I traded a chunk of award miles for a first-class upgrade on my flight. I’ve never done this before and it was the perfect journey. The trip was from 11:00pm until 11:30am and so at first I was hesitant for the upgrade: if I actually sleep on the flight (usually I can’t at all) then I’d “waste” my upgrade; however, what I realized is that people get the upgrades so they can sleep on the planes. I had a great rest and was refreshed instead of fatigued when we arrived in London.
